Napoli Matfia, also known by his real name Kwon Seong-jun, emerged as the champion of Netflix’s hit cooking competition Culinary Class Wars. Fighting Back Against Scalpers

Following his win, Kwon Seong-jun’s restaurant Via Toledo Pasta Bar became a hot spot, with reservation tickets quickly selling out. This surge in demand unfortunately attracted scalpers, who began reselling reservations for exorbitant prices—some going as high as 1.5 million won (US$1,100). Shocked by the situation, Kwon took to his Instagram account to address the issue directly, cautioning fans not to purchase tickets from scalpers.

“If you are caught selling tickets, the app will permanently block you, and your reservation fee will not be refunded,” Kwon warned. He also encouraged his followers to report any scalping activity and offered to prioritize reservations for those who help catch resellers. Despite the chaos caused by scalpers, Kwon expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming interest in his restaurant

The Story Behind Napoli Matfia’s Tattoo

While Kwon’s culinary talent has taken center stage, fans have also become intrigued by his distinctive tattoos, especially the one on his arm. During a recent interview with Baek Jong-won on YouTube, Kwon revealed that his tattoo is actually a tribute to his beloved three cats. “I’ve always had a bit of an obsession with being different, and that’s why I got the tattoo,” he shared, adding that his family is well aware of his ink and, although they weren’t thrilled, they’ve accepted it because they know him well

Kwon’s tattoo represents his love for his cats, whom he takes care of diligently when he’s not busy in the kitchen. He even spoils them by cooking them special treats like sous vide chicken breast. His candid explanation about the tattoo only adds to his down-to-earth charm, making fans admire him even more

What’s Next for Napoli Matfia?

With his newfound fame, Kwon is now balancing a skyrocketing career with running his restaurant. He mentioned in an interview that he plans to tweak the restaurant’s operations by possibly reducing the course menu options and increasing the number of reservations to accommodate more guests.

Kwon Seong-jun’s story is not just about culinary excellence but also about remaining true to oneself amid rising fame. From his fight against ticket scalpers to the personal story behind his tattoo, Napoli Matfia continues to captivate both food lovers and fans alike.
