If you’re an ARMY (BTS fan), have you ever been curious about the roots of SUGA’s amazing journey? Did you know he was part of the student council during his school days? Not only that, but he also shone as both a student and an athlete, playing on the basketball team.

Here’s a guide for ARMY to the places where SUGA spent his school years and start his journey:

  1. Taejeon Elementary School

Located in 957 Taejeon-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu, holds a special place in SUGA’s school journey. As the starting point of his educational path, this school witnessed the early signs of his passion and creativity. Known for his impressive achievements as a BTS member, SUGA began exploring his love for music during his time here, crafting his first rap lyrics as a fifth grader. The school has not only played a role in shaping his formative years but also takes immense pride in his success. Recently, they celebrated his Billboard chart-topping achievements with a congratulatory post on their official homepage, showcasing the lasting bond between SUGA and his Daegu roots.

  2. Gwaneum Middle School

Next on our list is SUGA's middle school! Located at 87 Gwaneum Dong-ro, Buk-gu, Daegu, SUGA’s middle school is conveniently close to his elementary school, making it easy to visit both in one trip. Here’s a fun fact for ARMY: this is where SUGA was inspired to write the lyric, “student that receives love.” During his time here, he continued to excel academically while nurturing his passion for music and basketball.

  3. Kangbuk High School

Located at 100 Taejeon-ro, Buk-gu, Kangbuk High School holds a special place in SUGA’s journey. This is where Min Yoongi, as he was known back then, became the SUGA we all adore today. The name "SUGA" originated during his high school days as a nod to his position as a Shooting Guard in basketball. On August 6, 2022, SUGA visited his alma mater and shared a memorable Instagram post, prompting the school to mark the exact spot of his photo with a special sticker. Perched atop an uphill road, Kangbuk High School offers stunning scenic views, making it a perfect spot for ARMY tourists.

However, it’s important to note that entering middle and high schools in Korea is strictly prohibited for tourists. Don’t worry—you can still stop by the charming playground next to the school, a place where young SUGA often hung out and even revisited later in life!
